Youthful Innocence

December 3, 2009

Emmy likes to put things in rows. And sometimes she makes up games, like "Letters on Chairs." Today, she combined these two wonderful activities and look what happened.

All I could say was "Smile. Dada's going to take a picture." Then I sat her down and we had the talk about "the leprechaun and the bat cave."

Shots on a walk

November 28, 2009

We went for a walk today. Emmy is now a part-time self-walker, part-time stroller rider and part-time stroller pusher, although she prefers to push, watch it roll, and then catch up to push again. Not baby-safe, so we use spotters.

First, here is Rosa, aka Baby Q-Tip. The hat turns her into a cotton swab somehow.

The other is courtesy of the reach around. I swung the camera around and took a shot without the benefit of aim while Emmy was examining one of many leaves found this day. I love it. (It looks best small.)

Thanksgiving - Lloyd family

November 26, 2009

There is nothing here about food. The food was great. This is simply a collection of child/relative pairings, as we were thankful to spend time together.

Nana and Rosa

Rosa and Unkie Matt

Rosa and Gran Everett (Nana Lloyd's Mom)

Emmy and Cousin Harrison

And the amazing finale, a smoochie delivered by Emmy upon request to Pop.

Pop and Rosa

Nov. 22, 2009

We went to visit my Grandma this day. This was her first introduction to Rosa. Unfortunately, we lost her a couple weeks later having filled over 94 years with life, love and family.

Although over 94 years apart in age, Pop has found a new lady, who will hopefully fill a bit of the void left with Grandma's passing.

My Ladies at the Park

November 7, 2009 B.C. (before the cold)

Family trip to Ault Park on one of the last "warm" days of 2009. Little nugget and Mama still stay bundled.

Sometimes, there is freedom.

But nothing like the freedom of you and your pink ball out for a frolic.

Maybe the cover shot of Toddler Runner's Weekly.

Or perhaps Infant Travel and Leisure, emphasis on LEISURE.

Rosa's First Halloween

October 31, 2009

Since it was her first Halloween and she was barely 2 months, there is really no Halloween theme here. We just took a lot of pictures, so I am trying to give equal billing. First, the Dada comparisons.

Now, a good head lift.

And to make you turn your head.

E-Speak: Halloween

October 31, 2009

I don't know what this day is all about, but Mama and Dada said I could dress up and go ask our neighbors for candy, and then they would give it to me! I asked to be dressed as Rintoo the Tiger from Ni Hao, Kai-lan, the greatest show ever made. If I don't get at least three episodes a day I get all twitchy.

There apparently was not an actual Rintoo costume so I got to be "Joe Tiger" who everyone thought was Tigger. Look at the head. Seriously.

Do I look happy? Take it OFF!

Sweet freedom! Let's get our treat on. Here is my practice "ROAR" face.

My tiger ferocity tempered a little once I saw people, so Dada had to carry me up to the doors. I used my tiger stare to get candy, just as intimidating. This is House #2 of 20-ish.

Here I am walking with Dada. He seems big sometimes. He went as Dr. Pepper. He's a real costume genius. I advise you to reschedule if your doctor enters the ER in fleece.

Here I am hitching a ride with Mama. They always pick up me up when I say,"Up." I'd swear they were the ones born yesterday and not my sister.

Here I am back in the car for the ride home. I filled Elmo's vacant head in about 35 minutes.

Now I get to kick back with my haul.

To the victor go the spoils.

Peace, E

Plotting

Oct 31, 2009

I was working on sorting through the Halloween photos when this plotting evil genius shot showed-up. This is from the car ride home from trick-or-treating. And I believe she is plotting how to get her hands on her sister's candy. I feel we certainly missed an opportunity to dress her as a sinister evil doer of some sort. The Woman Who Stole Wisconsin's Cheese, perhaps.

Hidden Desires

Oct. 6, 2009

Have you ever met someone who was perfectly lovely, had nice manners, and shared your love of hair accessories, but something about their smile made you uncomfortable, as if they were desperately trying to control their desire to eat you?

Movie Butter

I have not tried to dig this one out of the medical journals, but Rosa has been in the phase where her poo smells like movie popcorn butter, the stuff from the tap that prevents gastrointestinal viscosity breakdown. Emmy had a similar phase where she was lovingly referred to as "Butter Baby." So based on our experience, we assume all babies have this phase since we have not taken any special steps to enhance the butteryness of our children. Let's review some facts.

1. All scientific and religious evidence I am aware of say babies came before the movies.
2. Movie butter had to come after the movies. It is possible the industry was built around the butter, but they would have acted quickly having discovered such a wonder. Either way, this still gives babies a big head start.

Therefore, someone smelled their infant's poo and said, "This would go great on popcorn while watching a motion picture show." The evidence is irrefutable.

Business E

Oct 4, 2009

Here is the E working the business look with an oversize tie and belt, so big they fit Dada. She chose to accessorize with a orange hat and be eco-friendly and take a donkey to work.

Pageant Buddies

Sept. 20, 2009

I have been training Emmy for a life of child pageants. The key word is "pose." This is her signature pose, one hand under chin. We are still working to go from smirk to smile. Rosa, as you can plainly see, is still a project. But I see potential, as she clearly has the pizazz factor. If I can only loosen up those fingers, we'd have jazz hands. Nothing says "personality" like jazz hands.

The Smurf Tunnel

Sept. 18, 2009

Here is Emmy enjoying a collapsible tunnel that came from Marc, Lisa and Matthew. She seemed surprised that I would actually be at the other end. I think she thought it went to Fairyland.

Rosa is One Month

Sept. 25, 2009

Here is the one-month shot. Again, the questioning, beady Lloyd eyes. A more oval head than the E.

4 Weeks-ish

Sept. 21, 2009

Here are some mugshots of Rosa. Christa says she has my eyes, but that is all that is clearly attributable to either of us.

The Smooch

Sept. 21, 2009

It appears the inhale is strong enough to move lip.

Little Sis comes home

August 27, 2009

Is this it?

Does it do anything?

It's a lot smaller than I was hoping for.

Still not impressed.

Maybe if I kiss its eyeball, it will magically turn into something more interesting.

Perm and Poop Tips

Rosa has many admirable qualities, but doesn't get the poop out as frequently as might provide her optimal comfort. We might discuss this with people (relatives) that call and inquire about her. Sometimes, these same relatives (you can have one guess) relay these tidbits to other people, in this case their hairdresser. You have to talk about something in the chair, but other people's pooping? Do you have to go there? This information is relayed on our answering machine. And that is only the beginning.

The scene opens...

Relative enters salon. "Hi, a little off the top, please."

Hairdresser approaches. Grabs brush. "How are things?"

"My "relative" isn't pooping very well."

"Have they tried the anal massage? It worked for my daughter." WOW!

"I don't know. But I love to tell them how to parent better."

"It worked like a charm. Really got the flow going." Whose filter will kick in first?

"I should tell them about it."

"Let me show you how." And she does hair too!

Apparently, at this point a demonstration was given, since full-scale baby anus models are ever present at hair salons. Advice, sure. Actual demonstration on premises? Honestly.

Rosalind Everett Lloyd arrives

August 25, 2009

It started with a standard check-up at 9:50 am for Christa. It ended with Rosalind arriving just under 12 hours later. A low heart rate at the check-up led to an induction, which surprised us both, and then a baby girl, which was less surprising since it was human.

The E-burgers came to visit her little sis the next day. E is a bit stalker-like in her love for Rosa, but we consider it cute for the time being. She always wants to hold her and kisses her probably a hundred times a day.

She came out crying but did calm down pretty quick. A nice nap on day two.

E-Speak - Flowbee No Mo'

April 21st, 2009

Someone talked some sense into my parents as they decided against another mullet cut and we all went to a hair professional. I don't know what a hair professional is, but they told me I could ride an animal there and would get a treat. I'm a sucker for a treat.

It didn't start out well as Dada doesn't seem too sure in this picture and he is the only one who can see what is going on behind me in Mulletville.

I do not fear because I have his toothbrush, but seriously lady, this is not a party, less chit-chat and more chip-chop.

Mommy? Please help.

Despite the off-camera balloon held in my hand, you are not my friend. Don't call. Don't write. You have killed my innocence.

I brushed my teeth on the way home and played with my balloon and realized you can't stop my sexy. Bam! Balloon pose.

Bla-Dow! Ferocious animal pose!

Ba-Chang-Chang! Return to Innocence pose!

Peace,
E
